Victoria's Small Business Festival kicks off

Published: 1 August 2017

Victoria is set for more than a month of small business celebrations, events, seminars and workshops when the annual Small Business Festival Victoria kicks off at the start of August.

From 1 August until 7 September more than 500 events will take place across the metropolitan and regional areas Victoria, making it the biggest small business festival ever held in Australia.

Business owners, managers, operators and those thinking about starting a small business can attend events that cover more than 20 topics including social media, digital marketing, innovation, business planning and financial management.

The diversity of Victoria's small business sector will also be on show with a week-long celebration of 'Women in Business'.

For the state's regional small businesses a regional roadshow series will see Olympic gold medalist aerial skier and successful businesswoman Lydia Lassila inspire businesses to take the next step.

Victoria's small businesses play a key role in the creation of jobs and economic growth in the state, with more than 556,000 small businesses contributing more than a third of the state's goods and services output.

Victoria's small businesses continue to grow at a faster rate than any other Australian state and in 2016 grew by 2.8 per cent and created more than 15,300 businesses.
