Jobs Victoria – for jobseekers
Jobs Victoria has two main programs to directly assist disadvantaged jobseekers and long term unemployed Victorians – the Jobs Victoria Employment Network (JVEN), which will begin operating from September 2016, and the Youth Employment Scheme (YES).
Australia's main job search program for all jobseekers is jobactive, the biggest network of employment providers in Australia. Their website includes jobsearch and information about how to access jobactive providers.
jobactive is a program of the Commonwealth Government.
Jobs Victoria Employment Network (JVEN)
The Jobs Victoria Employment Network (JVEN) is Jobs Victoria's core program to help disadvantaged Victorian jobseekers find jobs and keep them.
JVEN services are delivered by specialist employment experts who work closely with employers to identify job opportunities and prepare job seekers for those roles.
The program connects disadvantaged jobseekers with real job opportunities and supports them once they are employed.
Assistance is tailored to the particular needs of the jobseeker and addresses personal or work-related challenges that affect their employment.
I'm a young person (15-24)
The Youth Employment Scheme (YES) offers young people aged 15 to 24 paid work experience in the Victorian Government for 12 months while studying for a Certificate III or IV qualification.
YES graduates can apply to the Jobs Victoria Youth Cadetship Scheme (YCS), which offers disadvantaged young people a further two-year cadetship in the Victorian public service.
