Port of Melbourne Port Capacity Project

The Port Capacity Project will ensure the Port of Melbourne continues to benefit from the economic advantage of being the main container freight hub of Australia.

This investment includes infrastructure development in the Port of Melbourne at both Swanson and Webb Dock East, and the creation of an automotive facility at Webb Dock West. The Port of Melbourne development is funded through existing port revenue streams and contributions from the private sector. The investment will provide significant economic benefits and certainty of handling capacity for Victoria's growing port related freight task.

Following competitive tender processes, operators for the new facilities have been announced as follows:

  • Pre-delivery inspection facilities - Patrick AutoCare and Prix Car
  • International container terminal - Victorian International Container Terminal Limited
