The department oversees a number of projects to drive economic development and job creation in Victoria. Projects are being delivered across agriculture, the creative industries, innovation, investment attraction and facilitation, regional development and small business, resources, tourism, trade and transport. Some of our current significant projects are highlighted below.
CityLink Tulla Widening
The $1.3 billion CityLink Tulla Widening project is a much-needed upgrade of the CityLink and Tullamarine freeway corridor from Melbourne Airport to Power Street.
Creative industries strategy
Victoria’s first creative industries strategy puts creativity at the forefront of the state’s future growth, prosperity and liveability, with more than $115 million in new funding.
The $27 million Drought Response Program assists Victoria’s farmers, small businesses and regional communities through challenging times, with a focus on community health and wellbeing and drought preparedness.
The $200 million Future Industries Fund supports high growth industry sectors that are critical to securing Victoria's future as a competitive, innovative and outward looking economy.
Jobs Victoria has been funded to address labour market disadvantage, support job seekers at risk of being left behind, and ensure all Victorians benefit from the state’s growing economy.
The Latrobe Valley Economic Development Program
The Victorian Government is working closely with the community, businesses, the Latrobe Valley Authority and unions to help strengthen and diversify the Latrobe Valley economy as it goes through a period of adjustment.
Level Crossing Removal Project
The $2.4 billion Level Crossing Removal project represents a significant investment in Melbourne’s transport infrastructure, removing 50 dangerous level crossings and building new stations and public areas to ease congestion, improve safety, create jobs and economic growth and develop industry skills.
The Metro Tunnel
The $10.9 billion Melbourne Metro Rail project is Melbourne’s first major rail network upgrade in 30 years, an important addition to the city’s rail infrastructure which will increase capacity across the public transport network.
Murray Basin Rail Project
The $416 million Murray Basin Rail Project will standardise Victoria's rail freight network, boosting the safety, capacity and reliability of freight services in Northern Victoria and better connecting primary producers to the state’s major ports.
Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund
The $500 million Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund (RJIF) is growing jobs, building infrastructure and strengthening communities throughout regional Victoria.
Target One Million - Growing recreational fishing
The Target One Million initiative commits $46 million to encouraging recreational fishing in Victoria, getting families outdoors fishing together, increasing fish stocking, boosting local economies and creating jobs.
West Gate Tunnel Project
The West Gate Tunnel Project is Melbourne's much needed major second river crossing, delivering a vital alternative to the West Gate Bridge, quicker and safer journeys, and removing thousands of trucks from local roads.
