Strategies and initiatives

Creative State - Victoria's first creative industries strategy

With more than $115 million in new funding, Creative State is designed to grow Victoria's $23 billion creative and cultural economy, turbocharge local creative enterprises, create new jobs and employment opportunities, and bring social and cultural benefits to Victorians.

Projects

State Library Victoria redevelopment

The State Library Victoria will be transformed with a $60.4 million State Government investment. The State Library redevelopment will open up 40 percent more of the iconic building to families, students, researchers and visitors and introduce new facilities and initatives such as Start Space for early-stage entrepreneurs.

Geelong Performing Arts Centre redevelopment

The 38.5 million Geelong Performing Arts Centre redevelopment will transform the Ryrie Street side of the complex with a striking new building that will vastly improve access, amenity and the visitor experience. The project will contribute to Geelong's central business district and will provide new facilities for local creative industries.

Collingwood Arts Precinct

The former Collingwood Technical School site in inner city Melbourne is slated to become a contemporary creative precinct; a home for small and medium creative organisations as well as artists and complementary businesses.

Collections Storage Victoria – Ballarat

The government has allocated $21.4 million for construction of an additional collections storage module in Ballarat for State Library Victoria. In addition to doubling storage capacity, this will include a digitisation facility to ensure that the invaluable state collection is not only safeguarded but made accessible for all Victorians, now and in the future.
